We were delighted and honoured to receive an award from ESTA UK in recognition of exceptional services to string teaching. This was presented to us at an inspiring weekend at Saffron Hall by Nicola Benedetti.

Workshops in Portugal

In April 2017 we had a great time meeting teachers from ESTA Portugal in Lisbon and Porto, sharing ideas and playing some pieces together. Many thanks to Clarissa Foletto for organising everything so beautifully and to everyone for making us so welcome – obrigado! Solo Time for Viola, books 1-3

We’ve now added performances of some of the pieces from each book to our website. Book 1 and Book 2 will publish on 4th May, and Book 3 a little later in May. The books contain varied concert repertoire for viola and piano, suitable for intermediate and advanced players and including pieces from the 17th to 20th centuries plus jazz and folk pieces.

Free Scale book downloads

We’ve added new accompaniments to three more pieces in Fiddle Time Scales 1, Viola Time Scales and Cello Time Scales: string duet accompaniments for Sweet Betsy from Pike and A bit of Bach, and a piano accompaniment to I gotta play those fiddle (or viola or cello) blues.

Dutch workshops

We had a very enjoyable trip in March 2017 to Orvelte, in the Drenthe province in The Netherlands, meeting string teachers from Dutch ESTA. As a result of this, we now have some Dutch translations of some of our songs and pieces in the Starters books (view here). We also arranged a couple of Dutch children’s songs for string duet and ensemble, which can be downloaded free here.

We’re also working on a new set of ensemble pieces – More String Time Joggers – which will be published in autumn 2017. Just like the first collection, the music is arranged in 4 suites of 3 pieces each, plus extra pieces to enjoy. More details soon.
